OIL PAINTING MEDIUM
Many years ago I met a wonderful California painter, Robert Clark who generously shared with me his recipe for a painting medium. He said this mixture was about four hundred years old and used by the Renaissance painters.
Here it is:
Six ounces Winsor-Newton English Distilled Turpentine
One ounce Damar Varnish
One ounce Stand Oil
One quarter teaspoon Cobalt Drier
Always mix in a glass container. I usually multiply this recipe in a large bottle four to five times and it will last about six months.
